New Puppy:

Core vaccines (Parvo Virus, Adenovirus, Distemper Virus, also known as a C3 vaccine) administer:

6–8 weeks of age, then every 2–4 weeks until 16 weeks of age or older [EB1].

Example:

“Lou Lou”, an 8 week old, Female, Labrador Retriever has just been acquired from a registered breeder and will be living in inner city Perth W.A.

6 weeks: Inital Vaccination (C3) was performed by Vet whilst still in the care of the breeder (this is normal in this situation). Next vaccine required in 4 weeks (i.e at 10 weeks of age)

10 weeks: Two options exist for the owner.

Option 1. Vaccinate with C3 (if owner DOES NOT anticipate using boarding facilities and/or visiting local dog parks / potentially socialising with dogs of unknown vaccination status)

Option 2. Vaccinate with C3, PLUS the Kennel Cough (KC) vaccine (commonly referred to as a C5 vaccine) if owner DOES anticipate exposure to the environments as mentioned immediately above. KC vaccines are administered as a one-off (nasal) or 2 separate vaccinations*

*This depends on the manufacture of the vaccine and if its a MLV (modified live vaccine) or an attenuated vaccine (Killed vaccine).

14-16 weeks: As above, two options exist for the owner.

Option 1.  Vaccinate with C3 (INITIAL PUPPY SCHEDULE NOW COMPLETE.)
